Treatment Of The Renal Calculi ın Lower Pole Of The Kidney

The lower pole of the kidney has a unique anatomical location which affects the management of renal calculi. The stone free rate for lower pole caliceal stones with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is inferior when compared with stones at other locations. The proper treatment of lower caliceal calculi is still under discussion. Several treatment modalities like ESWL, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy and retrograde intrarenal surgery can be performed depending on stone size, composition and anatomical factors.
