Tissue Groups And Tissue Typing

Since excessive polymorphism in human leukocyte antigen (HLA) poses a major barrier to successful transplantation and HLAs play a critical role in cellular and humoral immune responses determining the outcome of a transplant, histocompatability testing and analyzing patient serum for antibodies reacting with transplant donor tissues are essential components of a successful renal transplantation.
