The Status And The Role Of The Transplantation Coordinator

It is necessary to assign a coordinator in order to increase the organ supplies by providing from cadavers and to assist the transplantation team. The coordinator assists the transplantation team by means of arranging the list of patients in need of organ transplantation; observing the potential donors; following the process of medical death declaring; getting permission from the family; investigating the suitability of the organs for transplantation; sending to and getting organs from other centers; increasing public awareness in order to increase organ donation; updating lists in order to provide the patient be ready to the transplant and by quartering that all these procedures are performed with regard to laws and ethic principles.Keywords: Transplantation coordinator, National Coordination SystemTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2006, 2(21):11-12
