Fever In Renal Transplant Patients
Dr. Kamil DİLEKa
aNefroloji BD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA Although fever is not always present in an infected immunosuppressed patient, the most common manifestation of an infection in a transplant patient is fever. A number of clinical, laboratory and radiological investigations is recommended in the febrile transplant patient. The first differential diagnosis should be between infection and rejection. Usually an acute rejection causing fever is easy to detect because it is associated with signs and symptoms, such as rapid increase in plasma creatinine, oliguria, proteinuria, and tenderness of the allograft. However, a similar clinical picture can be present in the case of pyelitis, perirenal hematoma, Iymphocele, urinary fistula or stenosis. Many drugs used in renal transplant patients (sirolimus, CsA, MMF, AZA) can cause fever. Keywords: Renal transplant patient, feverTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2006, 2(21):54-56
