Transperitoneal Laparoskopic Radical Nephroureterectomy In The Treat-ment Of Upper Urinary Tract Tumors

The classical surgical treatment of transitional cell carcinoma of upper urinary tract, namely radical nephrectomy, has been started to be done via laparoscopic approach since 1991. Early results of laparoscopic nephroureterectomy series showed similar effectiveness of this minimally invasive approach when compared to its open counterpart by means of oncological control. Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy can be done either transperitoneally or retroperitoneally and with hand assistance when needed. Radical nephrectomy and bladder cuff excision are the two main steps of this operation. A number of different techniques has been described for the bladder cuff excision and large series are needed to compare these techniques.
