Laparoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation And Cryoablation In Kidney Tumors

With each passing day, laparoscopic techniques are being more common in urologic surgery. Procedures like radiofrequency ablation and cryosurgery can be applied laparoscopically and appeared as an alternative technique to the other nephron sparing surgeries especially in the treatment of exophytic and small kidney tumors.
According to the recent studies, these techniques can be used successfully on the patients with comorbidities preventing general anesthesia and the patients with exophytic kidney tumors smaller than 3 cm’s.
As a conclusion, because of their cost and the requirement of experience about laparoscopy, ablation therapies are not enough prevalent yet.
