Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy: Extraperitoneal Technigue

Radical prostatectomy is considered the standart effective treatment of organ-confined prostate cancer. Outcomes of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP) appear to be acceptable with regards to complications, oncologic and functional results and achieved equivalence to open surgery. Less postoperative pain, lower rate of complications, shorter convalescence and better cosmetic results are distinct advantages of LRP. The extraperitoneal approach decreases the risk of intra-abdominal complications and better approximates open retropubic radical prostatectomy.Keywords: Prostatic Neoplasms; ProstatectomyTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2007, 3(4):80-82
