Laparoscopy In Pediatric Urology

With the increasing use of laparoscopy in urological surgery, laparoscopic surgery has also taken a significant role in the management of some urological diseases in children. In fact laparoscopic management of non-palpable testis has not only been a pioneer for the use of laparoscopy in urology but also it has become a well-established and standard diagnosis and treatment modality for this condition. Nowadays nephrectomy and hemi-nephrectomy operations are commonly being done by using laparoscopic techniques and laparoscopy has become the method of choice in most centers. Although laparoscopy is being used quite successfully for some reconstructive surgical procedures in children, it is far from being standard procedure for such surgery yet.Keywords: Laparoscopy, pediatric urologyTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2007, 3(4):97-102
